The El Dorado boys tennis team finally had their first action of the season travelling to Wellington on Tuesday.
“It’s hard to know what to expect especially after not being able to get to the courts because of the snow,” said El Dorado coach Kent Kunkel.
Leading the way for the Wildcat netters was the #1 doubles team of Aaron Turner and Cole Reinhardt going 3-1 in their matches.
Turner and Reinhardt placed 2nd overall.
“I’m confident that will make them want them to work even harder,” said Kunkel. “These are new doubles teams so it’ll take them time to get used to each other but I was pleased with the effort.”
The singles boys were a combined 1-7 on the day with Lee Harter getting the lone win.
“Our singles players both have moved up from last year so it’ll take an adjustment on their part. Harter was #2 singles last year and Joe Laforge moved up from JV and it’s a tough transition for both of them,” said Kunkel.
With the weather looking up, the Wildcats will look to clean up their play before their next action.
“We still make too many unforced errors and miss easy shots but hopefully we can get in the full swing of drills at practice,” said Kunkel.
The Wildcats host Circle Tuesday at the Waterworks courts at 3:30 p.m.
