The levee being constructed on Augusta’s west side is still about six percent ahead of schedule.
Despite two major snowstorms and a rainy weekend, workers have been able to complete important tasks to stay slightly ahead of schedule. The project is set to be completed on August 30, 2013 at a cost of more than $6.6 million.
The contractor have completed several phases of the project including metal buildings and “stop log” structures.
Over the next week, the expect to begin removing the asphalt from Thunder Road and start the preparations to repave it. Other upcoming work includes completing the installation of the pump station and adding rip rap to protect the levee structures.
