  • A chase that led Sedgwick County Sheriff's Deputies into Butler County ended with a deputy and one suspect being shot Monday night.
    The Sedgwick County deputy was recovering this morning in a Wichita hospital.
    The shooting occurred at about 6:30 p.m. near Diamond Road and NW 70th Road, near Potwin, following a chase that began on I-135 in Sedgwick County.
    A male suspect, who was also shot, was transported by EagleMed in critical condition and a woman was taken into custody.
    According to Butler County Sheriff Kelly Herzet all of the suspects they know of have been caught.
    The incident occurred when deputies tried to make a traffic stop, but the driver refused to stop, leading to a chase that took them into Butler County, where a shootout took place.
    The Kansas Bureau of Investigation also is working on the case.
