  • The Augusta Middle School Science Olympiad team has been working very hard four days per week since October. They have been working on various projects, from understanding how to read and use maps correctly to building musical instruments. The team consists of one 8th grader, three 7th graders, and eleven 6th graders.
    "We are very proud of our team and their accomplishments this year!" says Coach Carey. "We are excited to be going to state on April 6th at Wichita State University. The students have a lot of hard work in front of them still to improve and keep learning. The teams that we are going to be facing at our state tournament are going to be tougher! We look forward to the excitement over the next month or so."
    Many of these students earned medals at the regional tournament February 16 at Newman University:
    Boomelever-6th Place Josh Todd and Lindsey Lewellen
    Dynamic Planet- 2nd Place Bailey Pennycuff and Presley Williams
    Keep the Heat- Jacob Lewellwen and Libby Richey
    Meteorology- 3rd Place Jacob Lewellen and Josh Todd
    Mission Possible-5th Place Ashley Prentice, Bailey Pennycuff, and Libby Richey
    Mousetrap Car- 6th Place Tyler Miller and Josh Todd
    Reach for the Stars- 6th Place Nataleigh Cantu and Katelyn Moore
    Road Scholar- 5th Place Jacob Lewellen and Phoenix Hogan
    Anatomy-4th Place Jacob Lewellen and Lindsey Lewellen.
