USD 490 will be testing their emergency response procedures today.
In the afternoon, staff will have the opportunity to collaborate with local emergency providers to participate in a district-wide shelter-in-place drill at El Dorado High School.
There will be a large number of emergency vehicles at the school for this staff development exercise and the EHS school building and grounds will be closed in order to conduct a realistic training.
While all have experienced severe weather and possibly there are some who have experienced a fire emergency but we realize few are prepared for the sights and sounds involved should it be necessary for wide scale emergency response.
This drill, like a fire or tornado drill, provides the district with the chance to have personnel become accustomed to their roles and provides an opportunity to improve crisis management processes.
Please make certain that if you need to visit the EHS campus on Friday that you do so before 11 a.m., as the campus will be closed for the training from 11 a.m. through 4 p.m.
