  • In order to gauge the overall community health needs, Susan B. Allen Memorial Hospital is working together with the Butler County Health Department and South Central Mental Health to conduct a community wide health needs assessment. This assessment survey tool is being mailed out late this week and should provide a number of benefits for the community as a whole.
Results from the survey will increase the knowledge of community health needs and resources, as well as create a common understanding of the priorities of the community's health needs. This type of study has not been completed in the area for quite some time, and it is expected information gathered through this project can provide a road map for the future.
"We see this project as a cooperative effort to gain understanding of community needs, and to help those involved in providing health services for our communities learn what our priorities should be," said Gayle Arnett, president and CEO of Susan B. Allen Memorial Hospital. "The information will be enlightening, and we think it could be the beginning of a great dialogue between providers and community members to make our community healthier for the future."
To ensure valid results, a sampling of 3,000 area residents has been selected and will be mailed a short survey today. Those who receive the assessment in the mail are strongly encouraged to take a few minutes to complete the survey and return it by March 26. All survey responses are anonymous and completing the survey should take less than 10 minutes.
If you would like to participate in the health assessment, but do not receive a survey in the mail, the health assessment survey has been made available online at https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/CHNAButlerCo or drop by the Susan B. Allen Memorial Hospital Administrative office, the El Dorado offices of the Butler County Health Department, or El Dorado or Augusta offices of South Central Mental Health to pick up a paper survey.
In addition, a Town Hall meeting will be held on April 25 at the El Dorado Civic Center, 201 E. Central, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. to review results.
