The Trinity Lady Knights entered the 4A Sub-State round as a No. 1 seed but they turned out to be a sheep in wolf's clothing.
Augusta came in as an 8-seed but never played like it as they controlled the pace and rhythm of the game and hit clutch shots every time the top seeded Lady Knights threatened to retake the lead.
"We just fought and executed our game plan," Coach Tracy Anderson said. "Our league really prepared us for tonight. We play in a really tough league. Except for Andale, we have been right there in every one of the last eight games."
Trinity took control early and it looked like the seeding would hold as they led 14-8 after one period. However, Augusta rallied the second quarter to take a six-point lead in and held on for a 24-22 lead at the intermission.
In the third quarter, AHS extended the lead briefly only to see the Lady Knights tie the game at 28-28 and again at 30-30.
But the Lady Orioles outscored Trinity 15-1 for the final 10 minutes of the game.
Coach Anderson said the upset was important for her team.
"It is as big as they can get," she said. "I am just so proud of our team."
She said the game plan going forward is to stick with what led to the upset Tuesday night.
"We have to focus on what we do best - which is defend," she said. "Eventually the shots will fall… As long as your defense is consistent, you will get a night where the shots will fall. Tonight they didn't fall for them."
Casady Marlnee led the Lady Orioles, scoring 15 points. Taylor Childers and Kalie Robinson each added 9. Brooke Eberhardt scored 8, Maddie Becker added 2 and Abby Tipton and Maddy Leedom each had 1 point.
