After months of dry and brown conditions, winter has definitely decided to make its presence known (so much for Punxsutawney Phil’s forecasting abilities)! Another chance for snow is on the horizon as forecasters look ahead to Sunday night and an approaching storm system. This one appears to be more likely to drop rain on us before transitioning to snow during the evening and overnight hours Sunday. Snow could then continue through Monday into Monday night. While there is still uncertainty in the forecast, meteorologists at the National Weather Service state that there is a “chance for meaningful snowfall accumulations across much of the area” with this latest system.
Between now and then we’ll continue to enjoy some arctic temperatures. Last night’s performance will be repeated as our overnight lows tonight dip into the single digits with sub-zero wind chills (around -4 degrees). After likely failing to clear the 20’s today, daytime highs will hover in the low to mid-30’s for the next several days. Plan to bundle up as you head out the door!
