Abraham Lincoln once said, “Most people are about as happy as they make their minds to be.”
There is a whole lot of truth to his statement, however, our list of traits continue in the secret to happiness.
First, give generously. Give of your time, talents, and money. By doing so, this will bring about inexpressible joy in one’s life.
Second, work with the right motives. If you are working just to get something out of your company or business, think again. The right motives/attitudes will make every day a new day.
Third, be an encourager of other people. Invest your time in the life of others and the best will come back to you.
Fourth, make the most of today. Remember yesterday is the cancelled check and tomorrow is nothing more than a promissory note. So make today count.
“This is the day which the Lord has made; Let us rejoice and be glad in it.” (Psalm 118:24).
Fifth, make time for a hobby. This will expand the horizons in one’s life. This writer enjoys the game of chess. Are there any chess players in Augusta? Perhaps we can start a chess club?
Finally, stay close to God. The secret to happiness is a fruitful life in Christ Jesus. For He says, “...You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.” (Matthew 22:37)
The secret of happiness is yours for the taking!
