  • The Circle Thunderbirds battled and fought for all 32 minutes but were handled by the Andale Indians 68-45 on Winter Homecoming in Towanda Friday night.
“I didn’t think we came out in the first half like we needed to, we can play with good teams but we gave them 8 points off of run out layups off our turnovers and 12 points off of offensive rebounds it make it tough,” said Circle head coach Jason Stucky.
Andale stormed out to a 20-9 lead after the first quarter. The Indians outscored the Thunderbirds 19-13 in the second quarter to command a 39-22 advantage after 16 minutes of play.
“Our struggle has been that we allow other teams more offensive possessions due to our turnovers and offensive rebounds, we are successful when those numbers are down and Andale is a great team,” said Stucky.
Circle played Andale much closer in the third but was still outscored in the period 16-14 and the Indians led 55-34 going into the fourth.
Andale closed out the Thunderbirds controlling the tempo while on offense and consuming valuable seconds to pace Circle to the 68-45 final.
Circle was led by senior Stewart Dennison with 16 points.
Paul Richard had 8 points. Kaden Fowler added 6 points. Dominic Lara scored 5 points. Seth Blaha and Jake Smith each scored 4 points for the Thunderbirds and Garrett Cannon added two points.
The Thunderbirds will host Wichita Collegiate on Tuesday and Wellington on Friday to close out regular season play before opening substate play the following week.
