Troy D. Butts, 48, a resident of El Dorado, loving husband and father, went home to his heavenly father Feb. 8, 2013 as the result of long-term health complications associated with a spinal injury in 1986.
Troy D. Butts, 48, a resident of El Dorado, loving husband and father, went home to his heavenly father Feb. 8, 2013 as the result of long-term health complications associated with a spinal injury in 1986. Troy was born in Goodland on July 29, 1964, the son of Neil and Barbara Butts. He started working early on his family farm until he was 18, then went to work side by side with his mom and brother Tony, sacking groceries at Bogarts in Goodland where he moved up in the ranks to become a meat market manager in El Dorado. He went on to earn an Associate’s Degree in Applied Science from Butler Community College, become a design draftsman, and later, a CAD professor at his alma mater. He married his high school sweetheart, Pam (Beem), in 1982 and she cared for him in sickness and in health, especially when he was no longer able to work. He was preceded in death by his father, Neil in 1999; his grandparents (Butts) and grandparents (Carl); and sister-in-law, Dee (Wisby) Butts. Survivors are his loving wife, Pam Butts; son, Timothy and his wife, Sara; and dog, Sophie of El Dorado; mother, Barbara Butts of Goodland; siblings, Mike and Becky Butts of Stella, Mo., Rod and Suzie Butts of Goodland, Patty Mills of Colorado, and Tony and Michelle Butts of Colby; and their families. Viewing will be available to family only on Friday evening and to family and friends on Saturday afternoon from 1:30-2:30 p.m. preceding the funeral, which will take place at Koons Funeral Home of Goodland at 2:30 p.m. MST followed by internment at Goodland Cemetery. A Troy Butts memorial fund has been set up at Koons Funeral Home.
