Mike Dorrell, Area Sales Manager of Safelite AutoGlass (tm), surprised staff at Sunlight Children’s Advocacy and Rights Foundation (SCARF) with a $500 donation in December. Dorrell represented the Wichita Area Safelite (tm) Associates in delivering the donation. “Giving back to our communities is an important part of the Safelite AutoGlass (tm) culture,” said Dorrell. “As a company, we are committed to being responsible members of the comunities where we live and work.” According to Dorrell, Safelite AutoGlass (tm) is the nation’s leading provider of vehicle glass repair and replacement services and is a large fundraiser for human and social services.
“We are so pleased that Safelite (tm) is thinking of the community in this way,” said SCARF Executive Director Suzi Thien. “This money will go towards the construction of our Sunshine Children’s Home, which will provide a safe temporary placement for children who are removed from their homes due to abuse or neglect. We are grateful to Safelite (tm) for supporting our work with this donation.” SCARF is based in El Dorado and serves Butler, Elk, and Greenwood Counties.
Its mission is “to provide resources and facilities that support and protect abused and neglected children and their families.” In 2012, its program Sunlight Child Advocacy Center provided 186 investigative interviews of alleged victims of child abuse.
