Sarah Wright got into running track and cross country because her old sister Savannah ran, too. And they both were good.
But don't think family tradition is the only reason Sarah has stuck with it.
"I just like the feel of running. It's comfortable and fun," Wright said.
Now Sarah will run with her sister again, this time at Wichita State University. Sarah signed a national letter of intent to join both of the Shockers' teams.
"I like the environment. The coach is nice, and it seems like a good program," Wright said.
Wright is the middle of three sisters who have running in their blood, including Suzie Wright, the youngest of the three. Sarah was instrumental in the Bulldogs' back-to-back cross country state championship in Class 3A.
She also earned two medals at the state track and field meet last year. In fact, all three sisters were a part of Douglass' 4x800-meter relay team that won the state title by a little more than four seconds. Sarah also finished seventh in the 400-meter dash.
Sarah said she will study nursing at WSU.
Sarah's parents are Mark and Gayle Wright.
