Cowley County deputy notified El Dorado investigators he had one of the people being sought for questioning in the shooting incident reported earlier.
As the investigation into the shooting over Sunday night continued Monday morning, Cowley County deputies responded to a call for service from a woman who reported an accident near Winfield Lake. Upon interviewing the person, the deputy notified El Dorado investigators he had one of the people being sought for questioning in the shooting incident reported earlier. She was transported to El Dorado for questioning in this matter.
Later Monday morning, a white male (earlier identified as being present at the scene of the shooting) reported an automobile accident near Atlanta. The description of the vehicle matched that being searched for in connection with this case. The subject was taken into custody for questioning in the investigation and transported to El Dorado. Subsequent aerial search of the region resulted in the discovery of the suspect vehicle apparently abandoned after being driven into a ravine in a rural area near Atlanta. The vehicle will be transported back to El Dorado for processing for possible evidence.
Investigators from the El Dorado Police Department, Cowley County Sheriff’s Department, the KHP and Sedgwick County Sheriff’s department were notified of a car theft near the vicinity where officers had focused their manhunt for a shooting suspect wanted in connection with the aggravated battery investigation in El Dorado.
Deputies pursued the vehicle until the driver abandoned it and fled on foot west of Winfield. Officers and deputies subsequently arrested a black male subject and transported him to El Dorado. At this time all of the persons wanted in connection with the shooting incident have been taken into custody.
