The Sunflower State Games is pleased to announce that submissions are now being accepted for the Your Health Matters Essay Contest, sponsored by Kansas Medical Mutual Insurance Company (KaMMCO). Entrants are encouraged to explain in essay form how they inspire Kansans to Get up, Get out, and Get Healthy!
The Your Health Matters Essay Contest is open to all Kansas residents. Essay length requirements are broken down into three age groups; Kindergarten through 6th Grade, 7th Grade through 12th Grade and 18 years of age or older. A Gold, Silver and Bronze medalist will be named from all entries combined. The winning essays will be selected by a panel of judges from the Sunflower State Games and KaMMCO. Each medalist will receive a cash prize, a sport entry in the 24th Annual Games and be recognized at the Sunflower State Games VIP Reception in July.
"A common goal exists amongst health care professionals of Kansas and the Sunflower State Games -- to inspire Kansans to lead a healthy and active lifestyle," said Doug Iliff, MD, of Topeka. “The Your Health Matters Essay Contest sponsored by KaMMCO is a fun and unique way for health care providers, citizens of Kansas, and Sunflower State Games to make strides towards a healthier state."

The Sunflower State Games is a non-profit organization based in Topeka. The Games are held annually in July and its purpose is to promote physical fitness and an active lifestyle for all Kansans through participation in sports. The 2013 Sunflower State Games will take place July 12-28.
