It's that time of the year when everyone is getting excited about the Super Bowl. The workplace is full of questions. Who are you going to cheer for? What television ad will impress us this year? Will the halftime show be worthy? And what will you eat during the day-long festivities?
When I realized this year's game was in New Orleans, my mouth began to water. A trip to New Orleans means a journey to some of the best restaurants in the world. The spices, the seafood, the outdoor dining, the hospitality. It becomes a magical place when combined with the solid sounds of jazz.
Did you know New Orleans is home to Southern Comfort? While I'm not a whiskey drinker, I've learned to use this smooth beverage in my cooking. Yesterday I discovered the following recipe online at cooking.com. What better treat to use at tomorrow's Super Bowl game! It's sweet and easy and will provide a new twist to the annual snack extravaganza.
Snockered Doodles
1 package Devil's chocolate cake mix
1/2 c. oil
1/2 c. Southern Comfort whiskey
1 egg
1/2 c. powdered sugar
Mix together first four ingredients in a medium-sized bowl. Using 2 measuring teaspoons to 2 iced tea spoons (I used a cookie scoop!), drop batter into plate of powdered sugar. Toss to coat. Place cookies on ungreased cookie sheet two inches apart. Bake at 350 degrees for 8-10 minutes. Cookies will be soft; cool on wire rack.
