  • We all have a life to live. How we live it is up to each of us.
There are however, some things in this life that you can never get back.
Let’s take a look at three things we can never get back:
First and foremost is time. Life is lived one day at a time. Once today is gone, it is gone forever.
We need to make the most of today. The apostle Paul has written, “...be careful how you walk, not as unwise men, but as wise, making the most of your time, because the days are evil.” (Ephesians 5:15,16).
Life at best is short. It has been said, “How we used today will determine how we use tomorrow.” So, make every day count!
Second, the lost opportunity. Most, if not all people are blessed with a great many opportunities in this life. The lost opportunity is just that - lost. Do you remember any lost opportunities in your life? I do, and no matter how much one thinks or dwells on it, it is gone - an opportunity that one may never have again.
Finally, the spoken word. This is a truism if that word was spoken in anger or cutting in a derogatory way. This writer grew up with the cliche, “Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me.” That proverbial saying is a lie. Words hurt and especially if they are meant to hurt us. Before you speak, ask yourself: Is it true? Is it necessary? Is it kind?
If not, then think before you speak.
Make the most of your life, but remember there are some things that we cannot get back.
