Deadline Hollywood is reporting that the film distribution

arm of Alamo Drafthouse has picked up the film I Declare War for release in the second half of this year. I caught

a screening of this film at the 2012 Fantastic Fest and have been eagerly

awaiting news of its official release. I

Declare War
is a Canadian film about a group of kids playing capture-the-flag

in the woods. As they play, we see their imaginations; sticks become machine

guns, etc. What makes this film brilliant is an amazing cast of child actors

and the way in which the material is handled by the writer and director. The

film handles the way kids think and behave very honestly and is not

patronizing. <>

Tim League, founder of Alamo Drafthouse, in his statement about

the acquisition references films like Stand

by Me
, Full Metal Jacket, and Lord of the Flies. Those are perfect

choices because I Declare War really

shares a lot of the best elements of all those films, but it also has one of

the more unique points of view Iíve ever seen on film. When a release date is

set Iíll post a more complete review, but for now this is very exciting news. I

think this film will be one of the must-see genre titles of 2013. <>
