Augusta's 7th-grade B girls basketball team went out with a bang Monday night against Maize.
The Bluejays defeated Maize 39-5 to finish the regular season with a perfect 15-0 record. AMS outscored its opponents 435-140 this season.
Jordan Curry scored 13 points to lead the Bluejays in their final victory. Emily Hall scored eight points. Maddy Sanders had five. Three players - Sophie Steuven, Brooke Patterson and Logan Malm - scored four points apiece.
The rest of the girls teams finished the season with a win, as well. The 7th-grade A team beat Maize 33-14. The Bluejays finished in a three-way tie for the Pioneer League Div. II championship as they had a 10-3 record.
Teresa Steinkamp had 10 points, Kylie McDaniel and Jayden Austin both added six. Raegen Davis and Natalie Rockers had four each.
The 8th-grade A team jumped out to a 21-8 lead by halftime and cruised to a 34-21 win against Maize. It's the second straight win for the team, which closes the season with a 4-9 record.
Sophia Dalziel scored six of her eight points in the first quarter. Taylor Hinnenkamp had a team-high nine points. Jackie Brandenburg added six, Caitlyn Divine and Kalee Guilliams scored five each.
The 8th-grade B team coasted to a 26-9 win against Maize and finishes with an 11-3 record. Kristen VanDever led the Bluejays with nine points. Alexis Bowen scored four. Kylee Guilliams, Abby Emmitt and Jaden Peterson all added three points apiece.
