Ralph Spensley Lourie of El Dorado and formerly of Moline, Ill., died Sunday, Jan. 27, 2013 at Golden Living Nursing home. The Celebration of his life will be held at the Trinity Episcopal Church on Thursday at 11 a.m. A visitation will be held Wednesday evening from 5-6 p.m. at the Kirby-Morris Funeral Home.
Ralph was born Dec. 30, 1933 in Moline, Ill., the son of John Bruce and Ruth (Spensley) Lourie. He graduated from Parsons College in Fairfield, Iowa. On July 16, 1955 he was married to Billie Beth Pence in Moline. He had served his country in the United States Navy as a surgical corpsman. He came to El Dorado in 1978 and he managed both the Butler County Tire and Becker Tire companies until his retirement.
Ralph was a faithful member of Trinity Episcopal Church. The Butler County College Booster club had a real fan in him. He also loved W.S.U. sports and the Bronco baseball fan. He loved to collect coins and trucks. He never met a stranger. People have often said he could talk to anyone about anything whether he knew anything about the subject or not. His famous slogan was “Ralph Here”
Surviving family include his wife, Billie of the home; two daughters, Rebecca Anne Lourie of Olathe and Victoria Lynne Lourie of Salina; one sister Anne and husband, Wayne Johnson of Sun Lake, Ariz.; sister-in-law, Shari Brammer; and many cousins.
