Lawanda was born on March 6, 1955 to Raymond and Emma Lou Thompson. She grew up with her family in Rose Hill and eventually found her callling in nursing. She was almost always smiling and cracking jokes with her fellow staff and the residents who she cared for. Lawanda made numerous quilts for many friends and family over the yeas. She taught her daughter some of her techniques and shared with her that giving to others was one of the greatest joys in life. Her loving and caring nature truly knew no bounds.

She is survived by: her husband of 26 years, Earl Michael of Douglass; brother, Richard Thompson and wife, Phyllis of Augusta; daughter, Susan Hardeman and husband, Ronald of Wichita; many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in deaty by her parents and one sister, Loretta Tillery.
