D. Rosella "Rose" Burden, 83, of Shell Knob, Mo. and formerly of Augusta, passed away Sunday, Jan. 27, 2013 in Augusta.
Visitation 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, at Headley Funeral Chapel and service 1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2013, at Headley Funeral Chapel, Augusta. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery Augusta.
Rose was born in Viola, Kan. on Oct.3, 1929, to the late Cora Emmarine (Miller) and Arthur Blair Dobbin. She retired as manager at Lehr's Motel. Rose loved making cookies, coconut cream and lemon pies for family and friends. She also enjoyed camping and boating with her family and friends. On July 4, 1948 she married Dean Wiley Burden at the Brethren Church in Mulvane and he preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Pauline Scammahorn, Bernadine Hendrixson and Josephine Turner; and brother, Kenneth Dobbin.
She is survived by: her children, Colleen Galgon of Shell Knob, Mo., Don and wife Linda of Augusta, Eileen Moore and husband Scott of Purdy, Mo., Merle and wife Gwen of Wichita, and Arthur Burden and wife Lisa of Augusta; 16 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
