Bonnie Berneice Barnt, 85, of El Dorado, died Thursday, Jan. 24, 2013 at Wheatstate Manor, Whitewater. Visitation with the family present will be from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday at Carlson Funeral Home.
Bonnie was born May 20, 1927 in Bostwick, Neb., to Roy E. Smith and Lillie A. Robertson Smith. She was raised in Osborne, Kan. She was one of four children born to Lillie and Roy Smith.
She was married to Herbert D. Barnt on Aug. 20, 1946. Herbert preceded her in death on April 30, of 1993. There were four children born to their union, Vicki Lynn, Linda, Sandy and Troy. Bonnie spent her married life and family years in El Dorado. She was a stay at home mother until her youngest child started school. She then worked in retail until retirement in her 70s. She was an avid reader, a fantastic seamstress and participated in league bowling.
She is survived by her children, Vicki Lynn Sherwood and husband John of Derby, Linda Adams and husband Larry of Kearney, Mo., Sandy Barnt of Emporia, and Troy Barnt and wife Karen of McPherson; a brother, Dean Smith of Topeka; five grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren.
