  • The #9 ranked team in 4A wrestling won its second consecutive invitational, this time at Eureka.
    The Wildcats finished first out of the 21-team tournament with 173 team points culminating in four first place finishes, two third place finishes, one fourth place and one fifth place finish on a successful weekend.
    At 106 lbs. sophomore Jake Leckliter continues to make big strides this season and won his first tournament taking a first place finish, defeating Gunnar Gassmann of Garden Plain in a 6-3 decision victory. Leckliter is now 13-8 on the season for the Wildcats.
    At 120 lbs. Daniel Thomas earned a first place victory for El Dorado, winning a major decision 14-2 in the championship match over Fredonia's Sam Aylor. Thomas a junior now moves to 13-6 on the season and has had two strong showings in consecutive tournaments for the Wildcats.
    Senior Bryce Morgan and the #2 ranked wrestler at 126 lbs. earned another first place victory defeating Guy Kinder of Caney Valley in a 15-2 major decision win. Morgan is 19-1 this season for El Dorado.
    At 132 lbs. senior Kyle Macy was beaten in the third place match in a 2-1 decision by Colton Stalford of Caney Valley. Macy earned a fourth place finish and is now 13-5 on the season.
    Senior Cole Reinhardt earned a fifth place finish for the Wildcats, winning his fifth place match over Austin Nelson of Chase County by pin. Reinhardt moved to 12-10 on the season for El Dorado.
    The #1 ranked wrestler at 145 lbs. in 4A Kansas wrestling Austin Hughey continued to dominate his competition, winning his championship match up with Cody Conner of Iola by pin and moving to 18-1 on the season for El Dorado.
    Junior Gage Armstrong wrapped up a third place finish for the Wildcats, winning the third place match with John Graham of Rose Hill in the 152 lbs. weight classification with a default victory. Armstrong is 17-7 on the season.
    At 195 lbs. Manny Martinez earned a fifth place finish, winning his final bout with Grayson Pryce of Eureka with a pin. Martinez moved to 7-4 on the season for EL Dorado.
    Senior Marcus Walker grabbed a 3rd place finish defeating Anthony Gonzalez of Fredonia by pin in his final match at 220 lbs. Walker moved to 14-6 on the season for the Wildcats.
    The Wildcats will be back on the mats today at Goddard Eisenhower with matches beginning at 4:30 p.m.
