  • Mustangs drop Argonia, Lady T-Birds fall to McPherson

  • Mustangs beat Argonia 52-50
    Flinthills earned their third victory of the season, beating Argonia in a nail biter 52-50.
    “We came out with an intensity that I hadn’t seen in a long time, and it paid off,” said coach Mark McNemee.
    Flinthills jumped in front 10-0 in the first quarter and took a 15-6 lead after 8 minutes of play.
    Argonia cut the lead in the second but the Mustangs still led at halftime 25-19.
    Argonia outscored Flinthills in the second half 31-27 but it was not enough as the Mustangs held on to win.
    “The guys played a complete game on both ends of the floor and got the win that our ball team was looking for,” said McNemee.
    Colton Allemand led with 16 points and 8 rebounds.
    Barrett Simon had 13 points, Shane Davis had 7 points and 11 rebounds.
    Clay Oates added 8 points in the win.
     
    Lady Mustangs fall to West Elk
    The Lady Mustangs led early against the Patriots running to a 16-6 lead at halftime but could not maintain it, falling to West Elk 36-30 on Tuesday.
    The Patriots outscored Flinthills 30-14 in the second half to pull off the come from behind victory.
    Tara Kemp led Flinthills with 12 points on 4 three-pointers and 5 rebounds.
    Bayley Reiswig had 7 points, 4 assists, 4 rebounds and 3 steals.
    Amanda Bell had 6 points on two three-pointers and 5 rebounds. Riley Batson scored 4 points and pulled down 11 boards and added two assists and two steals.
     
    Lady Lions humbled by Garden Plain
    Bluestem’s offense was held in check against Garden Plain as they lost 54-16.
    Garden Plain led 34-10 at half and never stopped scoring the rest of the way.
    Bluestem got 5 points each from Brandee Oliver and Candis Remsberg.
     
    Bluestem boys fall to Garden Plain 56-37
    The Bluestem Lions were with Garden Plain for much of the ball game but a strong second half propelled Garden Plain to victory.
    Garden Plain led Bluestem 23-21 at half time but a 33-16 second half earned them the victory over the Lions.
    Bluestem was led by Josh Muckenthaler and Brett Elsen with 8 points each.
    Cooper Minnick had 7 points and John Stiger and Pat Hurd added 5 points each.
     
    Lady T-Birds beaten at home by McPherson
    McPherson earned an early 12-6 lead after a quarter and held the Circle offense in check most of the game to beat the T-Birds 55-36 on Tuesday.
    Page 2 of 2 - The Bullpups led Circle at half 25-12. An 18-point third quarter for McPherson put the game out of reach for the Lady T-Birds going down 43-22 with 8 minutes to play.
    Circle outscored McPherson 14-12 in final frame.
    Jacy Gibbs led Circle with 10 points. Talia Highbarger had 7 points. Kati Frankenberry and Kate Wilson each had 5 points.
    Allyssa Kirkham added 4 points.
     
    EMS takes on Mulvane
    The El Dorado 8th grade A team lost to Mulvane 30-35.
    Cole Roberts led with 10 points. Colby Johnson and Trevor Burnett each had 7 points.
    Kyle Koehler had 4 points and Tyler Michaelis added two points.
    The 8th grade B Team lost 16-37.
    Hunter Minium led with 8 points, Dylan Brown had 6 points and Braden Andrews added two points.
