Robert L. McCord, Sr., 90, of El Dorado, died Monday, Jan. 14 at Kansas Heart Hospital. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the First Christian Church, El Dorado. Visitation with family present will be from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Carlson Funeral Home. Interment will follow the services in the Towanda Cemetery.
He was born on Oct. 6, 1922 in Towanda, the son of Raymond and Bessie Storey McCord. Bob graduated from Midian High School in 1940, then joined the Army. He went to Business Prepartory School in Wichita.
He worked for the US Postal service until retiring. He made his home in El Dorado for 63 years and had also lived in Blackwell, Okla. He was a member of First Christian Church; loved to Garden and fish.
On May 24, 1942, Robert and Pearl (Bain) were united in marriage at the home of Pearl’s parents in Tonkawa, Okla.
Those he leaves including his wife Pearl of the home are: his children, Roberta Plummer of Crescent Springs, Ky., Robert L. McCord, Jr. and wife Donna of Parkhill, Okla., and Pamela DeFisher and husband Frank of Mayfield, Kan.; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Richard; his parents; a son, James Richard; and one grandson, Kevin John DeFisher.
