El Dorado Community Concert Association (ECCA) continues its 2012-2013 Concert Season with The Abrams Brothers, an exciting young bluegrass trio, at 3:30 p.m. Sunday at the El Dorado Middle School Auditorium. Doors open at 3 p.m.
This Canadian trio of young men (fourth-generation musicians) is not shy about sharing their country-flavored style with the world. The Abrams Brothers merge the sounds of Bob Dylan and Arlo Guthrie with their own homespun panache to create never-before-heard music.
Barely adults, Elijah, John and James are artists in every sense of the word and already have the credentials of veterans.
The group became the youngest Canadians ever to perform at the Grand Ole Opry.
They toured Europe in 2006, performed at Jacob’s Ladder Musical Festival in Israel and received the Daniel Pearl Memorial violin, which is given to especially gifted young musicians in honor of international journalist and musician Daniel Pearl, who was taken hostage and killed in Pakistan in 2002.
Even Arlo Guthrie, the legend himself, recognized the talent of these youngsters after he first heard them playing his own songs at one of his shows and thought they were “way too young to be playing that good. I know I will be hearing from The Abrams Brothers for a long time to come,” he said.
ECCA will sponsor a student outreach performance for these artists on Jan. 21 as part of their ongoing commitment to encourage arts education in El Dorado with the support of its generous donors.
Admission is by season ticket. Season ticket prices are: Adults, $45; Students, $10; Family, $95 (parents/grandparents and children 18 and under); Single Family, $50 (single parent/grandparent and children 18 and under).
Call Shirley Longfellow at 321-6742 or Sheila Johnson at 321-9601 for season ticket information, or visit online at www.eldoradokscca.org or www.360eldorado.com/AttractionsAndEntertainment/ElDoradoCommunityConcertAssoc.html.
2012-2013 Season Tickets include an additional concert:

ECCA Season Ticket holders may attend concerts in Topeka, Great Bend and Chanute, and Ponca City, Okla., by reciprocal agreement.
The ECCA has provided top quality national talent to the El Dorado/Butler County area for 75 years.
This all-volunteer, non-profit organization has committed itself to enriching the cultural life of the community at family friendly, affordable prices through Season Ticket sales and the generosity of local sponsors. All concerts are held at the El Dorado Middle School Auditorium, 500 W. Central, which is handicapped accessible and equipped with individual hearing devices for the hearing impaired.
