  • Wildcats claim first place at Clearwater Invitational

  • The El Dorado Wildcats wrestling team continues to make strides this season and added some hardware this weekend winning the Clearwater Invitational with a team score of 182.5 and their closest competition in Buhler coming in second at 155.

  • The El Dorado Wildcats wrestling team continues to make strides this season and added some hardware this weekend winning the Clearwater Invitational with a team score of 182.5 and their closest competition in Buhler coming in second at 155.
    El Dorado had two first place winners, three second place finishers, three third place finishers and one fifth place finish.
    At 106 lbs. sophomore Jake Leckliter won his 5th place matchup over Bryce Ledford of Winfield in a 5-4 decsion.
    Freshman Reno Hughey took second place in the 113 lbs. division falling in the championship match to Cesar Regalado of Pratt in a 16-2 major decision. Hughey is now 13-4 on the season.
    At the 120 lbs. division junior Daniel Thomas took a second place finish losing only to Blake Cusick of Mulvane in a 7-5 decision in the championship match. Thomas moved to 10-6 on the year.
    At 126 lbs. senior Bryce Morgan moved to 16-1 on the year winning the championship over Kyle Miller of Buhler in a 3-0 decision. Morgan ranked #2 in 4A defeated Miller #4 in the final bout.
    Senior Kyle Macy took a third place finish and moved to 11-3 with a default victory over Jake Wilson of Rose Hill.
    The #1 ranked wrestler at 145 lbs. in 4A, Austin Hughey won his weight class championship in a 5-1 decsion over #2 ranked Patrick Weaver of Hugoton. Hughey is now 14-1 in his bouts this season.
    At 152 lbs. junior Gage Armstrong took third place winning his final bout with a pin over #6 ranked Lawson Fiss of Hugoton. Armstrong move to 13-6 on the season.
    Senior Caleb Wallsmith wrestling at 160 lbs. claimed a second place finish falling in the championship match in a 10-4 decision to #4 ranked Scott Whitson of Buhler. Wallsmith is 6-3 on the year.
    At 220 lbs. senior Marcus Walked claimed a third place finish defeating Ethan Gustus of Caney Valley in a 6-3 decision. Walker moved to 12-5 on the season.
    El Dorado will be back on the mats this Saturday when they travel to take part in the Eureka Invitational.
