  • John E. Wilkinson, 69, of El Dorado, died Sunday, Jan. 13, 2013 at Susan B. Allen Memorial Hospital.

  • John E. Wilkinson, 69, of El Dorado, died Sunday, Jan. 13, 2013 at Susan B. Allen Memorial Hospital. Services will be at 4 p.m. Thursday at First Presbyterian Church. Visitation with family present will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Carlson Funeral Home, El Dorado. Cremation will follow the services.
    John was born on Dec. 19, 1943 at Eureka, the son of Arthur Jerome and Anna Mae (Burk) Wilkinson. He graduated from Madison High School, and spent time in the US Army. He received his BS Degree from Pittsburg State; his Master’s Degree from Emporia State; his Educational Spec. Degree at Pittsburg State University; and his Counseling Degree from Kansas State University. He was a Professional Educator and dealt in Real Estate.
    He was a member of First Presbyterian Church; American Legion; Elks Club; enjoyed collecting antiques; buying real estate and enjoyed buying local art from artists in the area.
    On June 4, 1965 he was married to Kendra Sue Springs in El Dorado.
    Those who survive including his wife of the home are: his children, daughter Wendy Wilkinson and Susan Berry of St. Louis, Mo., and son, Wade Wilkinson and wife Sharon, and their three children Anna, Andrew and Amber, all of El Dorado.
    He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers.
    In lieu of flowers the family request memorial in honor of his granddaughter Anna Jo Wilkinson, for the Kyrie Foundation. These may be left with Carlson Funeral Home who are in charge of the arrangements. Condolences to the family can be sent to www.carlsoncolonial.com.
