  • Richard (Mac) Lavaughn McClure, 87, died Thursday morning at his home. Services are scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Monday at the Kirby-Morris Funeral Home. On Sunday the family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m. at the Kirby-Morris Funeral Home.
    Mac was born April 7, 1925 in Flat Rock, Ill., to Raymond and Emma Daron McClure. The family moved to El Dorado in 1926 and he attended schools at Vanora and Oil Hill. After graduation he entered the U.S. Navy in 1943 and he served his country for 2.5 years. He had a lifetime membership with the V.F.W. and was a member of the American Legion Post 81. On Nov. 8, 1950 he was married to Barbara Legleiter in Bentonville, Ark. They celebrated their 62 wedding anniversary. For many years he worked as a pumper for K.T. Wiedeman and Vessels Oil and Gas in Denver, Colo. He retired in 1989 and moved back to El Dorado to be near family.
    Survivors include his wife, Barbara of the home; brothers, Gene of El Dorado, Steve and Glen of Leon, and Gary of Wichita; one sister, Nadine Phelps of Wichita; several nieces and nephews; and his extended family the Pierce's and the Scotts. He was preceded in death by one sister Louise.
