Leonard D. McCoy “Man in Black,” 75 of El Dorado, passed away on Monday, Jan. 7, 2013, at his home in El Dorado. Celebration of his life will be held with a Recitation of the Rosary Saturday at 10 a.m. and Mass at 10:30 a.m., both at St. John’s Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Sunset Lawns Cemetery, where he will be laid to rest by his wife, Ruth.
Leonard was born on Feb. 17, 1937 in Iola, Kan., the son of Frank H. and Tressa M. (Kramer) McCoy. He lived most of his life in El Dorado, having lived in California for 11 years. He served in the United States Navy as a SeeBee and was a truck driver for 40 years. He was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church.
Leonard was united in marriage to Ruth A. Schmucker on Sept. 9, 1961 in El Dorado. She preceded him in death on Feb. 6, 2009 after 47 years of marriage.
He leaves his sons, Douglas E. (Eve) Orr of Ogden, Utah, and Frank A. (Lisa) McCoy of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; daughters, Connie (Ronald) Woodring of Redding, Calif., and Paula A. McCoy of El Dorado; four brothers, Herschel, Chester, David and Paul McCoy, all of El Dorado; three sisters, Marguerite Banks, Emylyn Kimberlin and Linda Call, all of El Dorado; and seven grandchildren.
His parents and brother, Larry McCoy, also preceded Leonard in death.
