Donna Sue (Harbin) DeWoody, 75, of Andover, passed away on Monday, Jan. 7, 2013 in her home. Celebration of her life will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Carlson Funeral Home. Inurnment will follow the service at Towanda Cemetery.
Donna was born on Nov. 18, 1937 in Anthony, Kan., the daughter of Squire Oliver and Beryl Helene (Wilcox) Harbin. She graduated from Harper High School in 1956. She was a secretary at Wichita Federal Savings and Loan when she met Garry DeWoody. They were married on Oct. 3, 1959 in Wichita.
The family moved to Doraville, Ga., in 1971 and to Lilburn, Ga., in 1973 where Donna worked as a loan secretary for several years at Tucker Federal Savings and Loan. The family moved to Graham, N.C., in 1977. Donna found her way to Elon Collge where she was able to be around all her “kids” until her retirement as secretary of the physical plant.
Donna and Garry “retired” to Grove, Okla., where they owned and operated DeWoody’s Small Engine Repair shop. They returned to Kansas in 2002 where she continued her Relay For Life fundraising and membership activities for many years. She enjoyed crocheting, reading, crossword puzzles, and loved spending time with family, friends and her beloved dogs.
She leaves her husband, Garry of 53 years; two children, Sheryl (Michael) Foland of Roswell, N.M., and Donald DeWoody of Andover; brother, Larry (Donna) Harbin of Harper; grandson, James (Jessica) Fowler; and great granddaughter, Cerridwen Moon Fowler. Her two dogs, Cody and Nikki, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and other family members also survive.
Her parents and brother, Donald Jack, preceded Donna in death.
