  • Robert Dale Beal was born in Coffeyville on May 11, 1925 to Otis and May Beal and died Sunday, Jan. 6, 2013 at the age of 87. Everyone who knew Robert (Bob) remembers his dry wit sense of humor and his laid back demeanor. Family was a high priority in his life. He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years. Their daughter, Cyndi Richter (husband Patrick Higgins) of Wichita; sons, Mark Beal of Louisville, Ky., and Chris Beal (wife Patricia) of Franklin, Tenn., have many happy memories of their dad. Robert enjoyed all six of his grandchildren, Kailyn, Jackson, Caroline, Michael, Taylor, and Mary Beal. After graduating from Butler County Junior College and Emporia State Teacher’s College, Robert’s first job was as a teacher/basketball coach at Rosalia High School where he made lifelong friends. He was an Insurance Adjuster for 30 plus years living in Iowa, Kansas and Kentucky. He and Cheryl retired back in El Dorado in 1993. Having fun was another priority that he found in team sports, fishing, golf and his buddies, most of which he went to school with in El Dorado. One of the highlights of his life was the hole in one he got at the Legion Golf Course. He proudly served in the Army Air Corps during World War II. His parents, brothers Claude Beal, Harold Beal, sister-in-law Jean Beal, and nephew Eddie Beal precede him in death. A private family service will be held at a later date.
