Viola Christina Turntine, 90, formerly of El Dorado, passed away on Thursday, Jan. 3, 2013 in Pittsburg, Penn. Celebration of her life will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Carlson Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Sunset Lawns Cemetery.
Viola was born on April 2, 1922 in Monticello, Ark., the daughter of George Washington and Lillie (Martin) Lambert. She enjoyed fishing, sewing and cooking and was the cook for the Elks.
She was united in marriage to David Turntine on Feb. 12, 1952 in El Dorado. He preceded her in death on June 1, 2000 after 48 years of marriage.
She leaves her son, David Turntine, Jr. of Topeka; her daughter, Carol Lee of Pittsburg, Penn.; foster daughter, Cheryl (Greg) Ball of Cassoday; granddaughters, Raphael (Denzil) Kelly of Reston, Va., Christina (Roosevelt) Loveless of Stuttgart, Germany, and Sara, Misty and Lexy Turntine, all of Topeka; great granddaughter, Nyla Turntine of Wichita; close cousin, Mary (Roosevelt) Raine; and numerous family and friends.
Her parents; brothers, J.W. and Clifton Lambert; and sister, Annie Lambert also preceded Viola in death.
