In an effort to stay informed about what happens at Kansas schools, Senator Jerry Moran usually visits around 30 of them each year.
On Monday morning, he was at El Dorado High School.
“This is an opportunity for me to get better acquainted with El Dorado,” said Moran. “Schools are important.”
Moran, who is on the Senate’s appropriations education subcommittee, toured El Dorado High School with Principal Kevin House, student body president Collin Just and student council member Sierra Bonn.
During the tour, House gave a brief history of the school building.
“It’s a great opportunity to show off what we’ve got going on here,” said House. “We have a great school. This gives us an opportunity to talk about the positives.”
Moran dropped in on several classes, stopping to talk with teachers and ask students what they were learning.
“This gives me the opportunity to pick up information,” he said, “and interact with students.”
