  • Irvin P. Burhenn, 85, of El Dorado, died Friday, Jan. 4 at Susan B. Allen Memorial Hospital.

  • Irvin P. Burhenn, 85, of El Dorado, died Friday, Jan. 4 at Susan B. Allen Memorial Hospital. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at First Christian Church. Cremation will be held.
    He was born on Aug. 3, 1927 in Barton County, the son of Paul and Bertha (Langher) Burhenn. He graduated from Great Bend High School in 1945, and served in the Army during the Korean War. Irvin was married to Shirley Sisson on January 30, 1952 in the Christian Church in Alva, Okla. They moved to El Dorado in 1959. He worked for Haliburton as a cement operator for 29 years. He was Past Commander of the American Legion; was a Deacon at the Christian Church; an avid golfer; played bridge and pitch with a group at the American Legion; and enjoyed gardening during good weather.
    Those who survive including his wife, Shirley; sons, Steve Burhenn and wife Adel of Great Bend and Stewart Burhenn of El Dorado; a daughter and her husband, Kala Ann and Jerry Bayes of Amelia, Ohio; and a sister, Flossy Dewy, and a brother, Virgil Burhenn, all of Great Bend. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Jason and Brandie Burhenn, Lacey and John Haughawant, Seth Burhenn and Zachary Burhenn, and a great-grandchild, Ian Haughawant also survive.
    He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and one sister. Memorials to his memory for the First Christian Church may be given to the Church or to the Funeral Home.
