Wilma M. McElhiney, 79, of El Dorado, died Thursday at Wesley Medical Center. The celebration of her life will be held at 2 p.m Thursday at the First Christian Church.
Wilma M. McElhiney, 79, of El Dorado, died Thursday at Wesley Medical Center. The celebration of her life will be held at 2 p.m Thursday at the First Christian Church. Burial will follow the services in Walnut Valley Memorial Park Cemetery.
Wilma was born May 14, 1933 in Potwin, the daughter of Ralph Lee and Helen Marie (Shipley) Hayes. She grew up in Potwin, Towanda and Rose Hill. She graduated from the Rose Hill High School. On Oct. 25 she was married to Andy McElhiney in Rose Hill. She worked many years at Farmers and Merchant State Bank of Derby. In El Dorado she retired as a Vice President of loans at Walnut Valley State Bank.
She was a member of the First Christian Church and the Order of the Eastern Star. She enjoyed crocheting, cross stitching, doing crossword puzzles and reading.
Surviving family include her husband, Andy; two sons, David L. McElhiney of El Dorado and Larry and wife Penny McElhiney of Ardmore, Okla.; one daughter, Shirley and husband Daryl Scott of Shawnee, Kan.; two sisters, Wanda Simon of Hutchinson and Judy Moore of Mulvane; eight grandchildren; and 22 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother Forest Hayes.
A memorial has been established with El Dorado Alzheimers Support Group. Donations may be left with the Kirby-Morris Funeral Home who is assisting the family with their arrangements.
