Each year, individuals and families turn to The Salvation Army for help during the holidays, whether it's needing food for a Thanksgiving dinner or wanting to see their children's eyes light up when they see presents under the tree Christmas morning.
In El Dorado, members of the American Legion Riders from Post 81 decided to make the holidays brighter for several local children by donating bicycles to the Salvation Army.
"They just decided to give them to us," said the Salvation Army's Captain Charles Pinkston. "For the past few years they've been giving us something at Christmas. This year they decided to do bicycles."
The Legion Riders, who donated six bikes, brought their gifts to the Salvation Army on Saturday evening.
"This is the second year we've donated bicycles," said Luke Bryan, one of the American Legion Riders who presented the bikes to the Salvation Army. "Kids really appreciate it."
Bryan said fellow Rider James Shaults suggested donating the bikes since his children enjoy their bikes and he wanted to make sure children who might not otherwise get a bike would be able to have one.
