Butler offensive lineman John McClure is moving up to play football at the next level for the SEC’s Arkansas Razorbacks.
McClure is coming off a banner year at Butler where he was named to the first-team NJCAA All-American squad.
“Before I got to Butler I didn’t even think about playing football. Butler completely changed me and made me the player I am today, a better person and they have given me an awesome opportunity to go and get my education and have a chance to play ball as well,” said the newest member of the Arkansas Razorbacks John McClure.
McClure started all 12 games this season at left tackle for the Grizzlies.
“I want to get in and compete for a starting spot at Arkansas and get my education that is the main thing. From there who knows, go and win some games and hopefully some bowl games as well,” said McClure.
McClure is part of a sophomore class that helped lead the Grizzlies program to a 22-2 record in the past two seasons including two Jayhawk Conference championships, two Region VI championships and a Citizens Bank Bowl win.
“It is a grind, especially for o-linemen,” he said. “We come in everyday and go 111 percent, you build and grow as a family and saying goodbye to those guys that I shared my blood, sweat and tears with was the hardest thing I have ever had to do at Butler. There isn’t much closer family than that.
