  • The Lady Mustangs fell to Yates Center 54-24 on Tuesday night.
    Senior Tara Kemp led Flinthills with 11 points converting on three three-pointers and nabbing 6 rebounds.
    Riley Batson had 6 points for the Mustangs along with 2 assists, 2 rebounds and a block.
    Kati Starks scored 5 points pulled down 8 rebounds and added 2 assists and 2 steals.
    Flinthills will be back on the floor to host Sedan on January 8.
     
    Mustang boys drop to 2-3 with loss to Yates Center
    The Flinthills boys lost to Yates Center 59-51 on Tuesday in Rosalia.
    “We anticipated Yates Center to be a good basketball team, but we didn’t expect their speed and we just couldn’t adjust to it,” said Flinthills head coach Mark McNemee.
    The Mustangs took the lead after the first quarter winning 14-13 but went down at half time 27-25.
    Yates Center maintained a three point lead into the fourth quarter over Flinthills at 41-38.
    The Mustangs were outscored 18-13 in the final 8 minutes of play to fall 59-51.
    “They got several quick buckets early in the fourth quarter and we just couldn’t get up over the hump to get the win,” said McNemee.
    Flinthills was led by Michael Hinnen with 24 points and 6 rebounds going a perfect 5-5 from the line.
    Colton Allemand had 7 points as did Shane Davis.
    Jason Hefton was the leading board getter with 8 and added two points.
    Barrett Simon had 6 points and went 2-2 from the line.
    “The guys played a great game and tried their best the entire game never quitting, which is all a coach can ask, as we gain more experience that kind of fight and determination will put more W’s on the board,” said McNemee.
