As part of an eighth grade English class project, a group of students decided to hold a bake sale and donate the proceeds to the Augusta Lions Club.
Augusta Middle School teachers and staff members generously baked the cookies and the bake sale, held earlier this month, was a huge success.
The students made a presentation to their class and teachers Tammy Cox and Jamie VanDever, explaining the motivation in choosing the project and the results of the bake sale. During the presentation the students outlined the ways in which the Lions Club serves the community.
Lions members Judy Dryden and Sherry Kincaid were present to accept the donation check from the students.
“This is so nice and we’re very proud of these students. They did a great job,” Dryden said.
The Lions tentatively plan to donate the funds to Project Jai Play.
