Gayle A. Krause, 86, of El Dorado, died Monday, Dec. 17, 2012. The celebration of his life will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the First Christian Church. Burial will follow the services in Walnut Valley Memorial Park. Thursday the family will receive friends at the Kirby-Morris Funeral home between the hours of 6 and 7:30 p.m. Gayle was born May 11, 1926 on a farm near Bellville, Kan., the son of William and Bessie (Reeves) Krause. He graduated from the Belleville with the Class of 1943. He served his country in the United States Navy as a pilot in WWII. He was a graduate of Ft. Hays State University and received his Master’s degree from Illinois State University. On July 29, 1950 he was married to Kaye Neumeyer in Burdett, Kan. He came to El Dorado in 1966 and served with the first faculty on the new BCCJC Campus as a math teacher. He retired in 1991. For 12 years following his retirement he served as the Trustee of the college. He loved God, family and country and his work were all very important to him. He was a leader in the First Christian Church having sung in the choir for 45 years, a Sunday school teacher of the Homebuilders Class, and Chairman of the Board and building committee. He also served as the church treasurer, deacon and elder of the church. He loved to travel, camp, garden, fish and do silversmithing. Surviving family include his wife, Kaye; three sons, Douglas (Karen) Krause, Shane (Peggy) Krause and Matthew (Laurin) Krause; five grandchildren, Salem, Jessica, Kelly, Jannica and Kerry; and 10 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers, William and Charles. Memorials have been established with the Gayle A.
