  • Garfield Elementary students, already excited about the holidays and moving into a new school building, were treated to a very special assembly Tuesday afternoon.
KAKE TV news anchor Susan Peters read an entertaining book, "A Fine Fine School," and announced that the Garfield library would be receiving $500 for the purchase of new books.
The EMC-KAKEland Reading Caravan is a partnership between EMC Insurance Companies and KAKE-TV designed to promote the importance of reading to elementary school students.
Each month, EMC Insurance Companies give away $500 to a school in the KAKEland viewing area to help fund its library &/or reading programs.
The students and special guests were featured on Tuesday night's KAKE TV news broadcast and will be seen throughout the month.
