The Bluestem Lions fell to Indpendent 36-35 on Friday in Wichita in a heartbreaker.
Bluestem went down early in the first quarter 10-4 but bounced back in the second quarter to outscore Independent 10-6 and were down 16-14 at the halftime buzzer.
The Lions continued rolling in the third, scoring 15 points and limiting Independent to 8 points to take a 29-24 lead going into the final 8 minutes of play.
Independent won the fourth quarter outscoring the Lions 12-6 to win by a single point.
The Lions Brandee Oliver led with 16 points, pouring in 4 three-pointers and grabbing 4 rebounds.
Hannah Davis had 8 points, 5 rebounds, a blocked shot, an assist and a steal.
Candis Remsberg scored 7 points going 7-10 from the line and grabbed 6 boards.
The Lions are now 3-3 on the season and will take on Wichita Trinity tonight in Wichita at 6 p.m. in their final contest prior to Winter break.
