  • The new year also brings with it spring election for several local offices and boards.
The El Dorado City Commission has two seats up for re-election, position one, which is filled by Shane Krause, and position three, which is filled by Nick Badwey.
The mayor’s office also is up for election this year. Mayor Tom McKibban has announced he will not be running for re-election this year, rather choosing to run for a different board.
The packets for the city offices are available at City Hall from the clerk.
The USD 490 Board of Education also has three openings, all at large seats. Those include the positions currently filled by Bernie Spradling, Leon Leachman and Vicki Coash.
In order for the school board seats to be on the primary election, more than nine people would have to be running for the three seats, otherwise they will be on the general election ballot.
The requirements for the BOE include a person be a registered voter and not be an employee of the board. They can file with the county clerk’s office.
The Butler Community College Board of Trustees have three seats up for election, including those of Ted Albright, Ted Dankert and Jim Wilson.
The deadline to file is noon Jan. 22.
