The Wildcats currently ranked #4 in 4A wrestling by the KWCA, traveled to Towanda to face off against the rival Circle Thunderbirds on Thursday night.
El Dorado moved to 5-0 remaining undefeated in head-to-head matchups, winning big in a 67-12 victory.
The Wildcats got a quick six points at 106 lbs. class when Jake Leckliter pinned Circle’s Rodney Longshaw just 12 seconds into the match.
The Thunderbirds then conceded 18 points as they had the next three weight classes open.
Senior Kyle Macy ranked No. 6 at 132 in 4A took on Circle’s Zeb Edson in the next match.
The match was decided in the third period, remaining scoreless through two periods.
Macy scored his only point of the match on an escape with 44 seconds left in the match to win 1-0.
Circle had another open at the 138 lbs. weight class and the Wildcats were in command with a 33-0 lead.
Austin Hughey who is the No. 4 ranked wrestler at 145 did not wrestle. In his place was Greg Matthews. Matthews earned a fall victory 2:59 into the match.
The Wildcats’ Jason Austin lost to Dominic Stolfi at 152 pounds, 1:32 into the match for the Thunderbirds first win and points of the night.
Gage Armstrong added the El Dorado lead with the third pin victory at 160 lbs as he pinned Lander Walker 2:59 into the match.
In the 170 pound match Ridge Walker of Circle faced Caleb Wallsmith of El Dorado.
Wallsmith made Walker use injury time twice as Walker was under the weather. Wallsmith won the match 9-0 in a major decision.
El Dorado had 182 open, while Circle had 195 open.
Senior Marcus Walker defeated Jordan Moore by pin with seven seconds left in the match.
Sophomore Jacobb Burnett the No. 2 ranked wrestler at 285 pinned Caden Corbin 52 seconds in the match to close out the victory for the Wildcats.
El Dorado will next be in action on Jan. 3 at home against a tough Mulvane team, while Circle hosts Andale also on the 3rd.
