  • The El Dorado United Way had a steep hill to climb to top 2011 results.
After setting a goal of $300,000 for 2011, the group flew past that goal and raised $342,000.
With the leadership of Executive Director Kristi Kloeblen and Gail Gomez, the united Way set this year’s goal at an audacious $375,000. After some last minute donations came in and the final numbers were totaled, the group raised $375,770.37.
“I’m just speechless,” Gomez said at Thursday’s luncheon. “This was a huge goal for El Dorado and you all made that happen.”
Kloeblen said more than $3,000 of the donations came from pennies brought by school children in El Dorado. Holly Frontier employees contributed $98,000 and the company announced just this week that they would match that total.
Intrust Bank also matched its employees’ donation that brought in more than $17,000.
“I just can’t believe the amount of money that was raised this year,” Kloeblen said. “We are going to be able to do amazing things in this community with this money.”
Kloeblen announced that allocations will be decided on Tuesday ad Wednesday of next week.
