Narragansett Beer has developed a following in the past few years by doing simple styles well.

But, Narragansett’s new beer will be their most ambitious release yet, the Imperial IPA.

The beer is being brewed to celebrate Narragansett’s 122nd anniversary.

The beer will be bottled in a 22-ounce bomber, and will have 122 IBUS. It will be brewed with Summit, Northern Brewers, Hallertau, Tettanger and Sazz hops.

“We have a number of reasons to raise our glass this year,” Narragansett CEO Mark Hellendrung said in a release. “Each anniversary is a reminder of where the brand has been and where we’re headed. It is an amazing feeling to help revitalize a cultural icon such as Narragansett and to watch it thrive again.

The Imperial IPA was brewed under the supervision of Sean Larkin of the Trinity Brew House in Providence.

The 8.6 percent ABV Imperial IPA should retail for between $5.99 and $6.99 and will be on shelves soon.
