Funeral services were held Monday in the Memorial Chapel of the Davis Funeral Home. Burial followed in the Walnut Valley Cemetery in El Dorado.

Daughter of Jewell Louella and George Raymond Hanson in Palisade, Neb., moved several times while going to school until landing in El Dorado where she met and married Lyle Francis Hawks. Though they married in New Kirk, Okla., they lived and worked in El Dorado. After their first daughter Rana was born, Lyle heard that Midland-Coop (late Hudson Refinery) needed help in the Lab-tech Dept. They moved to Cushing, Okla., and had a second daughter Kama and son Andrew (Andy). They resided in Cushing for the remainder of their time here wit us on earth.

Ramona started at KUSH radio when they move to Cushing from 1956-1963. She loved working sales because she love visiting and meeting new people. From KUSH Ramona started at the Cushing Daily Citizen in Ad sale and was Ad manager part of her stay from 1963-1971. From 1971-1974 he worked sales for what is now known as Swap & Shop. She filled in for 9-10 months at her home church First Baptist Church of Cushing as the office secretary. From 1976-1987 Ramona worked at Drumright News before returning to the Daily Citizen again from 1987-1990. Needless to say Ramona was a worker. She gave her all in everything she did.

She loved singing in her church choir, Virginia Brocks Sunday School classes and WMU. She was a member of XI Iota chapter of Beta Sigma Phi and served as service chairman. As a mother and then grandmother and great-grandmother, she loved watching her children and their children grow and play – compete and excel – whether it be in sports, the music arts, dance theatre – whatever their passion and gift from above was to be involved in – she reminded them – Do your BEST and always finish – never quit!!! Her hobbies were “Hang Ten” bowling team and Sr. Ladies competitive bowling league, any card game but especially bridge, spades and Go Fish with her grandkids, working any crossword puzzle and helping on the family jigsaw puzzles. She enjoyed drawing and writing poems and stories – some were submitted to and printed in Readers Digest and local newspapers. As a music lover, her favorite musicians were George Straight, Reba, Johnny Cash, Glenn Campbell, Andy Williams and the Oak Ridge Boys. And her favorite movie “White Christmas” with Bing singing Count your Blessing – and Ramona did just that!!!!

Ramona is survived by one sister, Marjorie Osbon; three children, Rana McCoy, Kama Martin and Andrew Hawks; and grandchildren, Barry McCoy, Kara McCoy Willman, Kaylee McCoy Williamson and Kale McCoy, Camblin Hawks Martin, Clinton Richard Martin and Christal Rose Martin, Hunter Hawks and Hayden Hawks. Great-grandchildren, Madison, Avery and Claire Willman, Locke William Martin and Lisbon Aprilla and Prentiss Ellison Martin.

One of the many “Ramona’s Reminders” is to “Live joyously and abundantly – knowing real love comes when one shares”. Thank you to all who shared their time and talents with Ramona – thank you Wanda, Anneta, Courtney, Victoria, Cheri, Hol, Mort Brock Sunday School Friends and Ruth Foresee taking her to church when she could no longer drive, Mobile Meals consisting of Bob and Rosalee Frick – the 2 Betty duo Betty Wilson and Betty Roberts and their backup Will Denney – Jill Jill’s Papa Jake Amberg, Home Health and Drumright Hospital staff, Select Medical Supply, Kens, Dr. Ike Hubbard, Dr. Steve Finley (that sneaky Dr. with 2 T’s), Emergency Alert Response & Cushing Ambulance service and ER, Good Shephard Hospice and ALL OF OUR FOREVER FRIENDS that lifted mom daily in prayer for peace – a forever thank you and God bless you all!!
