Augustan performing in holiday classic

Join Mother Goose, Bo Peep, and all your favorite storybook characters as Music Theatre for Young People presents Babes in Toyland. This holiday favorite, performed by talented youth, ages 7-18, from Music Theatre for Young People will open Friday, Dec. 7 and run through Sunday, Dec. 9, at Century II: Mary Jane Teall Theater.

Tickets are $12 for adults and $10 for students (group tickets are available) and can be purchased online through Wichita Tix at, or by phone at 316-219-4849. Tickets can also be purchased at the door one hour prior to each performance. Performance times are 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 2:30 p.m. on Sunday.

Orphans Alan and Jane are the wards of their wicked Uncle Barnaby, who wants to steal their inheritance; the toy factory. He arranges with his two goons, Gonzorgo and Roderigo, for them to be kidnapped and disposed of. Alan and Jane, along with the Widow Piper’s son, Tom-Tom are shipwrecked and land in Spider Valley where they must defeat the villainous Big Spider, along with her many minions to save the Moth Queen, Luna. Meanwhile, back in Toyland, Contrary Mary, the eldest daughter of the Widow Piper, fears that she may be forced to marry Mr. Barnaby. Bo-Peep has lost her mischievous sheep and the toy soldiers and toys are in for a fight to save their beloved factory.
